صلاة من أجل سوريا

Merciful and loving Heavenly Father,
We thank You that Your eyes range throughout the earth
To strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to You.
From Your holy heaven, look down on the anguish
And suffering of the people of Syria and have mercy, we pray.
Like a tender Shepherd, gather your loved ones in your arms
And protect them from the enemy
Just as you washed the great nobleman, Naaman the Syrian,
At the time of Elisha the prophet,
And cleansed him from his leprosy
So that he might proclaim Your glory to his countrymen,
Wash away the sin that prevails and create a people in Syria
Who love Your Name and obey Your Word.
And as the Lord Jesus, over two thousand years ago,
Walked through the land of Syria and healed
All those who were sick and suffering,
Breathe your Holy Spirit into your people and come,
We pray, in healing power to bind up the broken hearts
And care for the crushed spirits of your people.
Now, as then, may the Good News of your heavenly kingdom
Of peace and righteousness, ring out throughout the land.
May those who are blinded by hatred and prejudice,
Like the great Apostle Paul, on the Road to Damascus,
Have a personal encounter with the Lord of Glory,
And enter into the glorious Light of communion with Him.
And may this prophecy, from the book of Isaiah, be true of the people of Syria:
‘Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins and raise up the age-old foundations;
You will be called of Repairer of Broken Walls
And Restorer of streets with Dwellings.’ (Isaiah 58:12)
