How do Christians pray?
Jesus Christ made it possible for Christians to talk to God as they would talk to their father or a close friend. Christians can pray to God all the time. Does God accept certain kinds of prayer?
Yes. Jesus told a story to teach us what kind of prayer God likes. He told a story of two men praying in the temple. One man was religious and wanted everyone to believe he was perfect. He prayed out loud “God, I thank you that I am a good person. I thank you that I am not bad like that sinful man over there.” The second man was humble and knew he was not perfect. He prayed a short prayer “God, have mercy on me, a sinner,” to apologize to God and ask for forgiveness. Jesus said that the bad man who humbled himself and asked for forgiveness was forgiven and restored to a right relationship with God.

What prayer can only Christians pray?
When Jesus was on the earth, one of his followers said “Lord, teach us to pray.” Jesus gave them an example of how to pray. We call it “The Lord’s Prayer” and it is one of the most famous prayers in Christianity:
“Father, may your name be kept holy.

and forgive us our sins,

In fact, the Bible says “all have sinned.” Christians are sorry for sins and they know that they deserve to be punished by God. But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. This means that people who trust in Jesus can have all of their sins forgiven right now. We do not need to wait until death to find out if we will go to heaven or hell. Jesus gave all who receive him, who believe in his name, the right to become children of God.

A Christian is someone who trusts in Jesus alone for forgiveness of sins and as a result he/she obeys Jesus as Lord. Jesus has the ability to forgive our sins freely, because he accepted our punishment when he died on the cross. He did this to remove guilt, shame, and dishonor from all those who trust him and ask his forgiveness. God raised him from the dead and brought him back to life to show that Jesus was the savior of the World. For those who trust him, Jesus brings us into a perfect relationship with God.
Who can become a Christian?
Becoming a child of God through faith in Jesus is available to every person in the world. Many people write to us and say “I want to become a Christian, but I cannot because of my family or my nation.” Christian faith begins in your heart. It starts when you put your faith in Jesus Christ and ask him to forgive your sins. Then God gives you the faith to say to Jesus “I love you. I will follow you for my entire life.” If you live in a country with no churches and no opportunity for baptism, you can still be a Christian. No one can stop you from loving Jesus and having faith in him.
How to become a Christian.
The Bible says “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified*Justified means being declared righteous with God., and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.” [and also] …the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

If you have faith that Jesus is the son of God, the savior of the world, then you can pray to ask him to forgive all your sins and make you a child of God. You can ask him to put a new heart inside of you and give you power to obey everything he commanded. You can ask Jesus to be in charge of your life. If you believe that Jesus is the Lord and you have asked him to forgive your sins and take control of your life, you can now begin praying to God with the intimate relationship of a child talking to a father. You can speak freely to him the words that come from your heart. You can ask him for guidance. You can ask him for what you need.
